I was wondering if it would be a good idea to change the transmission fluid in my FWD over the winter. I've heard many stories either way like it falling apart afterwards any suggestions?

It wont hurt to change it. Some people think that if they leave the old fluid in there that the little particle help the clutches get better grip and that if
that you change it your trans will start to slip, this may or not be true BUT thats what Ford F-type trans fluid is good for, I have always ran that in my GM
trans and never had a problem, it has additional friction additive (not metal shavings) that helps clutches get a better grip.

There is "little particles" in there. I done some research on this a couple months ago and found it to be true.
I can't remember the name of the stuff but it comes in a red tube and adds that friction material back in the new fluid. And the type F fluid helps too. |
