I don't know about my eyes , it sure is hard to see though I can highlight it I discovered and it's a lot easier. I type with all my digits and
sometimes they get dislexic, I know how to spell yer name but my fingers don't. My dad built the house on Applegate Lane Dale bought , I remember most of
it. If you sand down the wood in front of the picture window you'll find a lot of punch holes , I was "helping" dad, I still remember the cussin,
that woulda been 1955. I set fire to the back field and like to have burned the place down before it was built. We cleaned used brick in the living room , I
remember it was cold, we chinked all the mortor off every dam brick in that house. I bet there's still a stack back there on the left. Dad loved shagging
home wore out bricks. The "building" we called it on the end was out back to the left and that was his shop to build the house out of. then a few
years later he built the porch and car-port and moved the building up so he and Frank Rose across the street would have a place to get drunk and hide from mom.
Is the brick patio still there , and I miss the big maple that we planted, I guess it got too big, it's gone isn't it? If you'd like I bet my
sister could copy some pics from the days when dad was building it. We used to sit out on the porch and sing country songs , sure was a different time. Oh by
the way , that crawl space , I used to piss into it , that was my room with the two doors , it used to be the kitchen , so ...well you know. One last thing , I
bet no one has nailed down the quarter round along the wall yet , dad never did for some reason. Not many guys built their own homes , and seeing it there
still is a comfort. I see the Lawlers still have a mess next door , it drove mom nuts, she called them the Squatleys, Forrest never threw anything away and at
one time there was a Cushman and an Indian or a Harley in that garage , I guess it's still there back and next to the property line. That house next door
was moved from the dairy farm that is now Green Tree, I believe the moving timbers are still under it and the car port proped up with sticks.
Rural route 3 box 580 , BUtler 3 7040 was the party line , you had to share the phone with half the dam lane. |

well...thank you for all that...My dad passed 11 years ago i guess you know...He left the house to his wife at the time....NOT MY MOM...I know all the things
you described and i know the room your talking about. I know this house has memories for you as it was the last place my dad lived before he died..and there
are alot of memories that I have held onto as well.
Tomorrow is his birthday and I am really missin him right now! Obviously u knew him...did u know him very well? |

Not real well , I lived up the road from Jim Butners on Johnson Lane and got aquainted with him, I'd do some electrical work for them now and then. I
didn't realize he was so into racing at the time or we might have gotten to know each other better. It seems like we went to school togeather, I went to
Clarksville and I think he was a few grades back of me in high school. I am 58 and graduated in 69, anyway he was a familiar face and we'd pass the time
now and then, you know how memory goes.
there was a Todd Cranmer or Kramer that lived across the cement lady's land there towards the track, the house is gone now but used to be immaculately kept and very nice. I always wondered if you were the same family , I didn't really know how they spelled their name, I think it was with a K though. I stopped by that house once since I left at 19 to jon the air force , when I got back they had moved over on gutford road, that was last summer and I was in the 40 pontiac. Just on an impulse I pulled in and they were sittin outside, I got out and someone came up and I was just overwhelmed, I started to cry and who ever was there was awfully nice. I know how you feel about missin Dad, Dale passed awfully young. He left behind quite a legacy though , one I'm sure he's very proud of. I kinda feel a connection to you guys cause you were in "my" house, plus you are racers and as long as soon as I could climb a tree I would watch the backstreatch at the drome and dad and I went pretty often, we'd walk over through the field. When I was a kid the drome belonged to me , it was my playground and where all the heros went, Glotzbach , Kimmel , Hampton , Mcdonald , Jimmie Robinson. They were still running coupes and I can recall grandpaw dad and me rootin for Old Yeller, Earl Balmer was another great, ran Daytona and stuff like that when a guy could actually race. In 30 or so years you'll sound like me , enjoy the dash , the dash between the birthday and the other date on the tombstone, it passes faster then you'd think. |

Somtimes old Hunn sounds like he has more sense than all of us,then other times he sounds like he has a slow leak in his head and he plugged it with a railroad
spike......hey Hunn,do you remember the old car loading ramp at the Sportsdrome?most people I talk to don't,we used to hide behind it and throw rocks at
the trains as they rolled by.We lived in the White Bear trailer park next to the track,YES!I am OFFICIALLY trailer park trash, but I built a house a few years
ago to try to erase that image....

Dang did tater say something nice about someone?
I am in total shock. lol tater I remember that trailer park. My sister-in-law use to live there. Do you remember the Grocery Store that use to be where the 4 wheeler place is now? Darn fasterford I found someone on here that is "OLDER" then me. It's about time! lol |

Yeah Maw,that was the Greyhound Supermarket. The Greyhound actually started as a gambling casino,it was to the left of where the 4-wheeler place is now,the
stone work out in front is where the main entrance was.Al Capone was a frequent visitor there and some of the countrys more popular singers performed there on
a regular basis. We used to play baseball in that field between the track and the trailer park on saturdays and watch all the cars pull into the track, then on
sundays we would sneek into the track and search for money that some drunks might have dropped(people like you,i'm guessing you were only about 60 years
old in the '70s right?).....

I said I am "YOUNGER" the fasterford. I went to the Drome in 72 & 73. Stoped going in Sept. 73 when my Daughter was born. Didn't go back till 92 when Bill Started racing again. Have been going to the track for the past 17 years now, & have worked there for the past 14 years. Dang that is a long time! |

is the drome going to revamp the "push car" and use it in the 300?....maybe even get a caddy like LMS had...maybe that would stop some of the red
flags...
